You won’t enter the Open-Air Museum of Ephesus, just view a small portion of it from outside. You’ll have free time for pictures and shopping outside the Upper Gate from where you can see the Odeon. You’ll also stop at the Interior Gate of Ephesus where you can find more souvenirs and facilities as well as more information about Ephesus from outside while seeing the Great Theatre. You’ll continue to the Archeological Museum of Ephesus with exhibits tracing the religious and chronological history of the ancient city. Among some of its most notable treasures are several marble statues of the Mother Goddess Artemis. Your final stop is at what once was the Temple of Artemis, considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A single column reminds visitors of where it once stood. Continue to a leather outlet for refreshments and a shopping opportunity before returning to Izmir. Note: This tour does not include a visit to the Ephesus Open-Air Museum.
