This tour aims to offer you a scenic day with sightseeing and also a boat trip during which you’ll enjoy the lovely panorama and a different perspective of the city. Begin with an orientation drive to the old town where you’ll visit the Archaeological Museum, one of the most important in Turkey and home to classical pieces found in and around the city as well as historic copies of the Qur’an. The museum has numerous exhibition halls where prehistoric and historic artifacts dating back to the Phrygian, Lydian, Greek and Byzantine periods are on display. Some of the exhibits include a large coin collection, a bronze sculpture of Herakles from 200 A.D. which has become a popular symbol for the museum, ethnographic artifacts from different eras dating back to pre-history, mosaics, and much more. The museum garden is dotted with Bronze Age, Phrygian, Lydian and Urartian effects and Hellenistic pottery items. After your visit of the museum, your tour continues with a boat trip which gives you a chance to see the many grottos accessible only from the sea and considered one of the highlights of the region. Then, you’ll have a shopping opportunity at a local shop before returning to the pier. Note: This tour is not recommended for guests who have difficulty walking, climbing and/or managing steps. There are approximately 10 steps to negotiate while embarking and disembarking the boat. We recommend that you dress in layers, wear sun protection as well as comfortable shoes. Please note that the Archaeological Museum will be closed for renovations during 2011, and it will be substituted with the Alanya Citadel. Tour may be operated in reverse order. Boat ride portion of the tour is subject to weather conditions.
