Medieval Cairo with PyramidsDepart for Africa’s largest city, the teeming metropolis of Cairo to visit the Pyramids of Giza and the mysterious Sphinx. A stop at the Western Plateau will give you the opportunity for great photographs of the three pyramids and the sprawling city of Cairo.
Your Motor vehicle will stop at the base of Chephren’s Pyramid and free time will be allocated to marvel at the Pyramids up close on your own. Drive down the valley where the mighty Sphinx observes the passage of time and men in eons of silence. Its mysterious expression an enigma yet to be unraveled. Then proceed to Visit the Gayer Anderson Museum, two houses built in the 16th and 17th centuries reflecting the early Ottoman style of architecture and the Ibn Touloun Mosque, one of the largest mosques built in Islamic Cairo.
The exotic and colorful Khan El Khalili Bazaar with its narrow cobblestone alleys and myriad of shops selling gold, silver and gems, bronze and copper brings to mind scenes from “A Thousand and One Arabian Nights”. At a Papyrus Institute learn how paper is made from reeds and shop for souvenirs before returning to Port Said.

Note: Comfortable walking shoes, hat and sunscreen are recommended. Conservative attire (no tank tops or shorts) that covers both the shoulders and knees is suggested for this tour. Due to the nature of this tour, it is not recommended for guests with walkers or wheelchairs. There are no fees for camera and video. The drive to/from Cairo is approximately 2.5 hours each way, dependent upon traffic and local conditions.
