Pyramids and Sakkara with Camel and Jeep SafariThis exciting tour by Mini Van, four-wheel-drive vehicle and camel caravan will acquaint you with the beauty of the Egyptian desert and the mysteries of the pyramids. Travel aboard your Mini Van (approximately 1.5 hours) through desolate expanse of desert and reclaimed, cultivated land en route to Cairo. Stop at the Western Plateau of Giza for panoramic views of the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza. Continue to the base of Chepren’s Pyramid and enjoy some free time to explore the site at your leisure. Afterwards, drive down the valley to where the mysterious Sphinx guards the mortuary complex. Visit the Valley Temple and then journey through rural areas towards the Sakkara Country Club. Upon arrival, board 4X4 vehicles for an adventure into the desert. Join a camel caravan where experienced camel drivers will assist you to climb onto the unique saddle to begin your unforgettable trip through the desert sands. Capture the spirit of the Bedouin as your expedition takes you back to the Oasis of the Sakkara , THEN proceed to Sakkara, Egypt’s ancient cemetery. Discover the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the first monumental building in the world. Finally, a stop will be at the Papyrus Institute to see demonstrations on how the ancient Egyptians made paper from reeds from the Nile. Spend some free time for souvenir shopping in the adjacent gift shop before the return drive to Suez.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 1/2 miles (roughly 3 1/2 hrs) over uneven, gravel, cobblestone and sandy surfaces with paved walkways and approximately 30 flat wide stairs. Conservative attire (no tank tops or shorts) is suggested for this tour. Comfortable walking shoes, light weight clothing, hat and sunscreen are recommended. Due to the nature of this tour, it is not recommended for guests with walkers or wheelchairs. Participants are reminded to adhere to the camel driver’s instructions for a safe ride. No fees for cameras and videos. The drive to/from Cairo is approximately 1.5 hours each way, dependent upon traffic and local conditions. Coaches are required to travel in a police-escorted convoy and sometimes will be subjected to certain security requirements and possible delays. Tour order may vary between groups but all mentioned sites will be covered.
