Fun and excitement in the beautiful surroundings of the Koprucay River are the highlights of your adventure today. Emerging from the Taurus Mountains and running through a number of amazing canyons, the Koprucay River flows into the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Serik, Antalya. Fed by underground springs in gorges that cut through steep, impassable canyons, Koprucay constitutes one of Turkey’s most beautiful natural recreational areas. The numerous archaeological sites in the area, especially the ancient city of Selge (Zerk), the fortresses on the banks of the river, arched Roman bridges and historic roads add to the significance of the Koprulu Canyon. Koprulu Canyon National Park covers 89,000 acres (36,000 hectares), including part of Koprucay and the ancient city of Selge. As well as being Turkey’s largest forest of Mediterranean cypress, the water is still and the river forms a pool. This is a good spot to start your river trip and gives inexperienced participants time to get used to the rowing technique. The bridge is reached by paddling against the current. The course continues after passing the falls and areas of class 2 rapids along the river which adds to the beauty of the landscape. After each waterfall Koprucay slows down, giving time to enjoy the majestic setting. A concrete bridge appears approximately 6.25 miles (10 km) down the river. After disembarking, a snack box and refreshing drink await you. Note: We recommend that you dress in layers, wear sun protection as well as comfortable clothing and slip-proof footwear. A dry change of clothes, as well as a swimsuit and towel, are also recommended. This tour is not recommended for guests with physical limitations, back, neck or hip problems or those with heart or cardiovascular conditions. Terrain can be slippery at parts, so please watch your step at all times.
